Liberty House 'good will' efforts reach fork in the road

The Norton Government faces it's first major hurdle since taking office: the Matthews confirmation. Currently at 8-7 against it was expected to be a close call. The RNC's previous endorsement has been lost to what many senior LRP figures refer to as 'sour grapes' over the Merry VP impeachment and every Linardist is expected to vote down the Liberal Republican lawyer.

President Norton softened up the ground by re-nominating Chief Justice Colonel who was named a proven shareholder and key member in the controversial East Titulia Company. Colonel presided over the Carmody case prosecuted by fellow company board member William D. Money, a biased and retaliatory act earning the ire and scorn from the LRP and swinging independents. This was the former LRP president's final call in deciding to quit Titulia.

Rumours are circulating like wildfire of a possible alliance rekindling between the RNC and Linardist parties out of spite against the Norton Government. Days after Norton's unexpected victory, impeached president and former RNC leader Julian published a chat between him and Linardist president William D. Money that detailed how the conservative achieved the support he needed to form a government.

Last night's chat with senior LRP members revealed no shock to the contents of the transcript. What did come out was the revelation of how Julian went out of his way to destroy his former moderate colleague [TJ Norton] and use his Linardist counterpart to back it.

LRP secretary Malinda Noble likened the political orchestration to nuclear warfare and state declaration to possess weapons of mass destruction.

"There's a reason why it was called M.A.D. and not just what it stood for. The Republicans are led by teenagers, barely out of high school trying to take on an real, accomplished politician. Each day that passes confirms our decision to do away with them as just" she said.

The Titulia Express asked the president to comment on the question of reelection and the political ramifications since the coalition split and the RNC held veep impeachment.

"I am committed to staying the course to keep politics out of it as much as I can. These are issues for the voters at the ballot box" he said.

Asking if he would officially declare his intention to seek a second term, Liberty House's current tenant answered with artful care compared to more open hints the past few days.

"My ability to maintain the confidence of the Titulian people is carried by a continuation of good will between the parties, the independent citizens - really - the entire nation. If the good will is not returned then I'll look at that come time of the election period".

"Right now I'm fully focused on tending to the business of the nation and staying true to my constitutional obligations. I have done that since my first day on the job .. in this house of the people where liberty and freedom must reign. I will continue to do that until I have lost the confidence of my fellow citizens to provide a good government that represents them - all citizens".

Julian agenda usurped by private industry cash hunt

Days into the new government, President Julian has faced a drop in public support. Shortly into the third day of the term, Julian was forced to resign his campaign promise of forming a new Admin solution.

The change of tone for the new leader was widely anticipated as a high sign to Double D Construction CEO MC Daddy D, whose company would benefit from a massive privitization plan. Sources in the administration said negotiations have commenced in private and bipartisan efforts to improve Titulia's state facilities will transfer to an offsite resource.

"Julian is hoping to wait until citizen support is higher. No one wants to be tied to it if there are no guarantees in it [the proposition] passing", the official said on the condition of anonymity.

When asked how the bipartisanship extended, the official remained tight-lipped.

"If they're not involved now they won't be involved later on. The administration won't accept bipartisan support unless everyone on board supports the partnership".

The questionable third budget bill was a proposal for investing over 14000 tollars in constructing the new Legislature, Stock Exchange and other facilities was defeated earlier today by a bipartisan effort led by the Liberal Republicans, Social Democrats and even the Colonel. The president was asked for detail in the budget, particularly where the money would go.

There was no answer from Liberty House and the third budget instalment was pulled by the executive in a matter of hours.

Former president Gerry Brady joined with former LRP presidential nominee Tom Norton in encouraging the president to separate the bills. The legislature's reaction extended that endeavour to give a better explanation of how the more controversial bills will be spent. A clean culture and arts budget was posted shortly after the original third part was withdrawn and is expected to pass without a hitch.

The president's release of his first "Question Time with the President" was received by many as a sales pitch for the mega buy, with Double D Construction CEO MC Daddy D pea-shooting at the agenda's detractors from the press room floor. Double D Construction has been selected as the successful website construction contractor under previous coalition governments for the National Library, Hall of Fame and the General Courthouse.

Drawing from the pack of cards available to the government, it's a closed book on whether it will proceed as originally planned and declare a coup on citizen lawmakers or strike a compromise between the parties.

LRP president Leah Carmody restated her party's commitment to achieving a new Admin service agreement if elected next term, but left the door open for 'interim arrangements'.

"There is bipartisanship on establishing a parliament. There is no fight there. What we are asking president is not to waive the white flag of surrender with Admin just yet. There are solutions to it. There have been conversations with the government and I ask the president to join in and support a united goal", she said.

Ms Carmody challenged the government leader to do what is right in the national interest and silence special interests looking to make money off of the government's failure.

"It would be disappointing to see an official that had been barely successful in achieving election, claiming that he can refuse to represent the middle road of the republic that are working to help him. I can't put it any better than to clarify our position. We want to work with the president, but to do that the president has to start representing all of Titulia and not the commercial and real estate interests attempting to manipulate the people's house of government".

The LRP leader was unlawfully indicted last week via a suspect complaint made by the Khan of the East Titulia Company and Double D Construction CEO, MC Daddy D. The complaint of the CEO was a protest over researching material of public interest to the republic, that included the "Khan's" business dealings with previous government members. The case is expected to be heard next week.

The rise, fall and comeback of the Norton juggernaut

There are various unconfirmed accounts of what really happened. Supporters allege he was pushed, while detractors claimed that he jumped of his own accord.

It all began when the Government, led by Dennis McVicker and comeback politico Tom Norton, published an Executive Order authorising members of the Linardist Party to be 'rounded up'. The memo cited multiple commissions of citizen abuse by members of the Linardist caucus as means to '..bring them to justice'.

Norton claimed in court testimony that the war memo was a 'joke' and the executive issued it to cause calamity and bolster activity in an otherwise stagnant state. They succeeded, but at the cost of being sentenced as 'war criminals' and 'felons' by the General Court. Norton was ordered to 13 days suspension from Titulia, which he accepted earlier this year as part of a sentencing deal.

McVicker's initial sentence was commuted on appeal to a judicial censure, ultimately alleviating a more serious penalty for the former president. As history recounts, he left the ranks of Titulia's elite around November and was seldom heard from after that-but not without mention throughout the republic thereafter.

Claims of corruption against McVicker and senior Linardist Party figures have been heavily documented, most prominently by the conservative base that Norton once held. One lingering claim holding substance is the connection between several leading Linardist members and members of the judiciary involved in the controversial East Titulia Company. The company has been secretly acquiring large parcels of land on the east side of Titulia City.

Evidence of the involvement was documented by Norton in a blog dated late March this year based on research conducted by his running mate, LRP president Leah Carmody. The bulk of the dossier came in the form of several 'chat' transcripts held in the publicly accessible, open forum of the company that was hosted on a third-party forum provider website. The transcript provides several direct accounts from company members and investors on the establishment of a housing cooperative.

An impact of understanding the company's establishment was not what caught the pair's eye. The alarm was caused by a comment in the transcript by the cooperative's founder, Clerk of Courts MC Daddy D. The comment referred that the eventual goal was 'succession' from the main republic. Linardist figures defended the comment as an 'off the cuff remark' and said there was never any discussion of succession from the Republic of Titulia.

The other key query was a manifest exchange between the company's members, questioning the Titulia's jurisdictional legality and propriety. One comment on this point was made regarding Chief Justice Colonel's involvement, in that his participation might be seen as bias if it ever came into question within the republic.

The MC promptly reassured his Titulian employer that should it come to that, he would be willing to take responsibility. There was also the matter of the Chief Justice's alleged ex parte conversation over Norton's pending contempt of court sentencing, with a person whose identity remains unclear. What is clear was that the person was not an associate justice and should not have had access to the forwarded email.

This was a far different presentation in public displays of unity by the investors, that there was no impropriety under Titulia law.

The East Titulia affair has died down in the republic over recent weeks. That changed during the election cycle when outgoing president William D. Money (LN) circumvented the Department of Justice Act and laid charges against both members of the LRP ticket for 'trafficking stolen goods' (Carmody) and 'receiving stolen goods' (Norton). Both were also indicted for one count of a Terms and Conditions (Admin rule) article of 'disrupting the user experience'. The charges referred to Carmody's research and Norton's posting, respectively.

Despite the charges, the once popular president has received widespread condemnation for the presidential breach of authority from outside of the Linardist and Social Democratic party coalition.

LRP secretary Malinda Noble said she had complete confidence in Carmody's innocence and the party would stand by her leadership, as it has done so since the foundation of the party. Party figures and notable lawyers James Matthews and Frank Stevens have lept to join Carmody's defence. On legal strategy, Mr Matthews declined to comment other than to say he was not concerned about the outcome.

Mr Matthews described it as '..an event well anticipated in advance from a government more committed to making Money than respecting liberty and citizens rights'. The text from Mr Matthews' email was copied verbatim with the capital 'M' in 'Money'. It's unknown whether that was in reference to the outgoing president, or a grammatical error.

Mr Norton has filed for discontinuance as the president breached legislation in exercising prosecution authority. Ms Carmody is yet to respond to the complaint.

Money charges opponents over East Titulia exposure

Government President William D. Money (LN) has formally charged candidates Tom Norton and Leah Carmody for one count of common law theft and one count of disruption of the user experience under the Terms and Conditions.

The charge stems from an independent investigation conducted by Carmody following-up a leaked e-mail claiming the East Titulia Company (also called 'ETitCo') were using their roles in government to take over the real estate giant TCRED and force a monopoly over land in Titulia City. Carmody has already provided evidence to the republic that she used search engine giant Google™ to query any publicly accessible documents relating to East Titulia.

The evidence previously tabled by Carmody is reliable testimony, given the company's forum hosted at nabble.com was unsecured and open to public access. This places Money in a difficult position, as in order to prove theft of private property he must prove that the global search engine giant's listings were not within the public domain. As Google™ is used by over 1.4b people per day for the same purpose, odds are the outgoing President's attempt to successfully prosecute his political enemies will add heat on Chief Justice Colonel - another financial member of ETitCo - to drop the case with prejudice.

Mr Norton has been charged as a co-accused because he released the exposé on his Titulia blog account.

The LRP has retained James Matthews and Dr Frank Stevens of Manhattan LLP as joint counsel, but say they will not be dishonouring the Republic by responding to charges they claim as 'politically motivated' and without 'proper authority'.

In speaking for his clients, Mr Matthews of Manhattan LLP said that the President's failure to abide by the Department of Justice Act 2009 ['DoJA'] and leave the matter for the Attorney General is 'an abuse of power by the chief executive'.

"DoJA speaks to the issue of prosecution in very clear terms, that no one else in the Executive can act as Attorney General bar the Attorney him/herself or a delegate as the AG specifically appoints. The Executive cannot accept this power in vitro or onto another, even in absentia of an Attorney General. The language in the Act is very, very clear", Mr Matthews said.

Calculating previous prosecutions, this would be the second time a coalition president has ignored DoJA. The first recorded occasion was provided by former VP Norton, in which he applied through the Chief Justice to the Attorney General for excuse to return for a party vote. Its rejection was accepted, however the communiqué reports that the rejection was not given by the Attorney General, but by then-president Gerry Brady.

In response to the growing abuse of process by the coalition, Vice President Norton has tabled an enforcement supplemental bill in the legislature that calls for any government, present or future, to enforce and honour the Act.

LRP policy spokesperson Reg Ambrose has called on the citizens to vote yes on the supplemental.

"It's the right time to take this on board. It's the right thing to do and take Titulia one step further in preventing the abuse and politicization of the legal process. It's right that Titulia sends a message to the public officers involved with the East Titulia Company, that their attempts to abuse privileges to get even with those that exposed them are inappropriate", he said.

Communications Director Renee Buchanan alternated course from her colleagues and encouraged the process to continue.

"That they [East Titulia Company] treat the judicial system with such contempt grinds away the last layer of any credibility they may have once had as supporters of good public law. In the interests of promoting lawful activity I'm bound to recommend they cease, but if they don't then it adds another mark against the company members that have used their government positions throughout this charade", she said.

"That provides another reason why the LRP are the better alternative to lead with fairness and respect for legislation and the Bill of Rights".

A date is yet to be scheduled.
